Hello 2026! We are very excited to formally announce the first record we're working on this year, fif's incredible debut The lower forty eight, out Friday, February 27th. This walloping record is an absolute joy, loud and exquisite and a true testament to Fiona Gurney's vision. We are so thrilled to be working on it. Check out two new singles today below:
The lower forty eight is a 46-minute LP that moves between dissonant, spastic instrumentals and intimate bedroom laments. It explores themes of identity collapse and the slow process of clawing it back. Musically, it blends math rock, post-hardcore, and alternative: think jagged guitar interplay in the style of Faraquet, combined with the lyrical vulnerability of early Liz Phair or PJ Harvey.
In addition, we're very excited to announce that fif's release show on Feb 27th will also mark the occasion of the Sad Cactus 12th birthday party, with labelmates Jinzo on the bill along side Rose House and a very special guest.
